Artist Statement

Sometimes I make artwork because I just want to smile. This image grew very slowly as I carved and printed the lino block four times in four different colours, building an image using the method known as the ‘suicide technique’. It kept my artistic colleagues guessing for weeks. But in the end I preferred the final block printed alone. I am still trying to work out how it is possible to follow my cat along a shadow wall, and it still makes me smile.
