Acrylic and paper on canvas, 2007
This work explores the theme of renewal. A flowering plant has grown out of that jumble of soil.
I think hardship makes most people worse people… it is sad but true. This piece is a tribute to everyone who has been mired in the soils of hatred but lifted themselves out.I am a woman so when I look at it I think of the archetype of the ‘strong and worldly’ but gentle father figure. That is rare and getting rarer.
Colours are strong with a balance of line and texture making this an intriguing painting.
